Otters are renowned for playful behaviour, but wild otters are less playful than our image of them as carefree animals would have us believe.

When photographing play behaviour, it pays to be able to identify the young animals and then amongst the young who are the most restless and potentially boisterous. It will only be a matter of time before the urge to play gets the better of them.
